Stayed here for 4 weeks on a retreat The accommodation was very nice however the food was awful Front of house in the restaurant were polite and friendly, if a little understaffed, but the Chefs clearly made no effort with the food It was rarely hot, cheap ingredients, badly presented, unimaginitive and at times completely inedible

I had a lovely stay at the hotel. However me and my family ventured to the clubhouse for an evening meal. And we were greeted with unacceptable customer service. I was rudely spoken to by the manager when I accidentally dropped an empty bottle as he gave me a tray of glasses that I had to carry to my table. Then out of decency cleaned my table of the empty glasses that were left there as many waiters walked past and was then greeted with sarcasm and a snarky look. Our food was delicious. We ordered in 2 separate waves only minutes apart. However food came at least 30 minutes apart. Our 3 meals came out before 1 meal which was the catch of the day. The manager then didn’t deal with the situation and our lovely waiter who was very apologetic sorted us out and we got a refund on one of our meals. We found out that there are 3 other functions on tonight so clearly the restaurant is not very well organised. The front of house team were very lovely and dealt with our situation. Thankyou also to the kitchen team for the amazing food. I would’ve given it 4 but only rated 2 given the above comments

Stayed here for one night as a stop off to start our week in Devon. Hotel grounds are well kept with plenty of parking. Greeted by a very friendly helpful lady on reception and check in was efficient. I presume we had a free upgrade as we ended up in a suite for £58 which was a nice surprise. The suite was clean and very spacious. Good supply of towels and a great big superking bed. Tray with tea, coffee, biscuits etc. Very comfortable however a few pictures on the wall would have made it feel more homely. The Spa and pool was free to use for guests. Pool very nice and the spa area was lovely with a steam room, sauna and a lovely big infinity jacuzzi....really enjoyable. We didn't eat at the hotel and didn't have breakfast so can't comment on those but the breakfast did look very nice when we peered over the balcony in the morning. All in all we had a lovely stay and would certainly stay again if visiting this part of Devon. One small suggestion to make the hotel a little more cosy would be softer lighting around the hotel, the lighting was very clinical. Maybe a few lamps and some pictures. The corridors just seemed a little bare and a few pictures would have certainly made it feel more homely :-)

Visited here with family & had lunch in the bar area. There’s a good selection of food available on the menu & reasonably priced. The views from the bar are stunning of the green. The decoration is a bit tired though & could do with a refurb. The service was very slow & took a long time for our food to come out. I had jacket potato & it was a bit dry but nice & hot. The staff were friendly but maybe a bit over familiar. Nice for a casual lunch when you’re not in a rush

I live not far from the course and with a couple of hours free, booked online to play the 9-hole Acorn course. It's a good challenge, though the amount of information they insist you give them I doubt I'd consider playing here again - I could understand them needing name and vehicle registration number as that would give them enough information for the police to track down one's next of kin in the event of an emergency. But they insisted on full name, full address, email address and mobile number - and they weren't overly polite over that demand either. They couldn't give a reasonable explanation as to why all the information was needed nor confirm that the information would be shredded - I certainly do not remember agreeing to giving all that information when I booked and paid online beforehand.
