This beach is ideal for walking the dog - out of season; there could not be a better place for Ellie to have an off lead blast and she absolutely loves it....whatever the temperature! Unfortunately, in the summer months it is so very, very busy, understandably so as it is a beautiful beach, dogs have to be on their leads... More

Came here with our dog and had a lovely walk. Even in January it was quite nice, cold though! Dog friendly and great scenery.

Spent the new year weekend in Woolacombe and went on long walks every day and saw the new year in with fireworks on the beach. Such a vast open space at low tide and lovely to be able to walk the dog along the whole beach at this time of year. We will definitely be back.

I'd heard much about this beach for many years and sometimes high expectations can lead to disappointment. Not on this occasion. We walked from Mortehoe and then along this wonderful beach, almost deserted on this gloomy January day. It is stunning and quite beautiful.

A lovely sweep of sand, there's always plenty of space on most of the beach, even at busy times although the dog free part of the beach can get packed. The part of the beach between the village and Mill Rock allows dogs on leads, the rest of the beach down to Putsborough allows dogs off lead. There are two... More

The whole place is the ideal holiday destination for families, walkers, surfers, para gliders, accommodation to suite all pockets, facilities from small local shops which you need to just walk an extra 100 yards to find to the larger gift and clothing shops only one amusement arcade and an excellent children's fun park right in the centre of the village.... It is easy to see why this beach is so popular with families and surfers. Clean, safe, beautiful, and plenty to do in and out of the water. Decent selection of family friendly places to eat and drink apres surfing.
