This was a great tour (we did the grand tour), the tour guide was excellent! Its mind boggling that this is all one original collection of stuff, a chippendale book case being worth 25 million pounds alone! The cafe afterwards was really good too!

We opted for the 'grand tour' of the house. A little steep at £13 for 90 minutes but our guide, Alison, was excellent and her assistant, James, the perfect gentleman. Not terribly impressed at being asked to stump up another £3 to view the walled garden, which we sidestepped. We were urged several times to explore the grounds (which are... More

Can't believe how lucky we are to have this on our doorstep. Took my Mum who has walking difficulties and from when we bought out tickets to we left the service was exceptional. Girl at visitor centre was extremely helpful and ordered my Mum a wheelchair for tour and told us we could park at house where tour started. Lunch... More

Had a lovely afternoon of sketching in the grounds of Dumfries House. The Royal Drawing School session on sketching landscapes was well led and pacy, quickly introducing a very mixed bunch of all ages and abilities to both different materials and techniques. Excellent, truly enjoyable..and the tea and bakewell tart in the marquee later was tasty and welcome after an... More

I won a competition for an overnight stay here. Room was lovely. Staff very friendly. Food was fantastic and the grounds are stunning. Included in my prize was a private hour of the house, it was a very interesting tour and the tour guide was very knowledgable. Worth a visit
