Found out when we arrived that the distillery had closed 30 years ago when the market for whisky collapsed. Very knowledgeable gentleman. We had long talk about using American bourbon and spanish sherry kegs for flavouring scotch whisky. We did not visit the distillery buildings...More

really enjoyed this visit as you can go round in your own time and get close to all things that are a distillery .

This is a self guided tour with an audio guide. Which means you find out more and can do it at your own pace. We had previously done a guided tour of a working distillery and it wasn't half as good - mainly because the...More

This was a really good museum. Even if you've been to a whisky distillery before and seen it in operation I suggest this as you can get up really close to the apparatus in a way that you just can't in a working distillery. It...More

We visited here on a cold and damp afternoon and spent a very pleasant couple of hours. The manager was very helpful explaining about the distillery and we were given audio wands for the tour. You could spend as long or as little amount of...More

We visited the distillery on a rainy cold day and got a warm welcome from the manager Richard. He explained some of the history and how to follow the trail of footprints around the distillery with talking wands that gave us a running commentary about...More

This was a working distillery until the 1990's, when it closed it's operations. It is now purely a tourist attraction. One of the nice things about this site, is that the "audio guide" is included in the entry fee. The cost of an adult ticket...More

This museum is a very good example of a well preserved closed Scottish distillery. We enjoyed a private tour with an audio guide. Everything was left as it was during the closing in 1983. It was like if someone could just walk inside and start...More

Plan for about an hour on this audio-guided tour. But you can spend as much time as you want. Lovely shop.
I am planning on bringing a group of 29 people to the distillery June 22--will they be ready to host a group our size without a "reservation"? I've called several times, but no one has returned my call.

I was there in a group of 5 and there were a few other small groups as well which were being attended to with the tour. Not sure why they are not returning the call. But I guess you can drop in directly.
Hi, Did you have to schedule your visit? Or does it have regular opening hours? Is it staffed, or do we just show up? Thanks!

No scheduling required and there are staff present to assist. Drive in, park and walk over to the distillery shop and the staff there will greet you and start you on your tour. I hope this answers your question. Enjoy.
