Caught ferry from here to return to Ullapool after a week touring the islands. Gorgeous sunny day showed the harbour off at its best. Great views, saw a seal lazily floating near the pier. Close to town centre makes it easy to access.

A necessary part of a ferry trip, but not necessarily intrinsically interesting enough to merit a special trip.

For the best views go across to Lews Castle on the opposite side - and call in to the Castle museum and the tearoom whilst you're there. Active working harbour. Watch the fishing boats unload their catch.

Harbor and surrounds are not hat special but worth perhaps a quick look around. The ferry terminal is near the supermarket and non operating vending machines and disgusting drinks machine mean spending five minutes ti cross the road could be wise

The harbor is very picturesque with many boats entering and leaving the harbor. It looked very muc like something one would see on a postcard.

A typical harbour but the variety of boats is a real treat. It is also nice to overlook the harbour from the grounds of Lews Castle.

Pleasant enough harbour, even in the rain. Stornoway itself was a disappointment with nothing really to commend it apart from one very old Harris Tweed mill that was interesting in itself. Lots of ridiculously overpriced Harris Tweed shops.

Not very exciting spot, but if you like harbours that haven't been mainstreamed yet and developed with al kind real estate projects etc, this is a nice place to be. I think it is.

Spent a day in Stornoway as part of a weeks holiday on the Isle of Lewis. Went to the harbour area before going to the Castle Walk (another disappointment). Can only describe the whole area as dull and uninteresting. Nothing worthy of spending time in...More

Efficiently run marina with leisure vessels close to working fishing boats. A safe mooring, good well managed basic facilities.
