I would have to say that this was my favourite day in Scotland, the games are a must see for visitors and seeing the Queen was definitely a highlight . If you can this is a must do while in Scotland

The Braemar Gathering is a must do visit if you are in the vicinity at the right time. It is the last Highland Games of the season and always takes place on the first Saturday of September. It is quite amazing. There is so much going on you won't know which way to look; tug-o-war, highland dancing, tossing cabers, pipe... More

Had to visit the site of the Braemar gathering, just for the experience. Must a great thing to do in the right month. The grounds were so well maintained and looked fantastic. Interesting place to even see the Royal Box. Some strange things inside it !!

Such a lovely Scottish setting and well signposted and marshalled. We arrived 10am and enjoyed watching the various events which are all taking place in one major arena at the same time, it's hard to know where to look. The highland bands were fab, tossing the Caber, throwing weights, Scottish dancing, running events and tug of war just to mention... More

Not great weather in 2016, but hey, it is Scotland and only adds to the atmosphere. Good food, but maybe too franchised out. Nice if there were more local producers. Scottish sports events really fun to watch. To top it all, the Queen, Prince Philip and Prince Charles all easily visible in their bothy between 15:00 - 16:00.

We visited with a mixed aged group-85-18 years. The parking just outside the village us really well organised and free with a free minibus shuttle to the Gathering for the elderly or infirm. It's easy and quick to buy tickets on the gate(cash only) and tickets for seats once inside. There were plenty of little food stalls with excellent chips... More

We have visited the Braemar Gathering many times. It is always entertaining. This year we had booked seats in a covered Grandstand. That appeared to be a wise decision because it started to rain just before the Queen arrived at 3 pm. The presence of the Royals does not affect the informal character of this spectacle. You won't experience anything... More

We had a great day out, we got there early and parked a short walk from the gathering, the highland games are a site to be seen plus the dancing and bag pipes plus a chance to see the queen and royal family

This was a most wonderful experience. Best event ever. Full of tradition, relaxed, fun and the Queens comes in in the afternoon.
