Being the geography buff I've been, I loved Mud Island when seeing it as a kid, and still do. The scale model of the Mississippi River, which flows literally feet away, is well constructed. The museum looks a little dated, but is a good complement to the outdoor river walk. Always fun to ride the tram over too!

For the best bang for your buck, pay to park ($6) and walk across and back. The monorail is neat and all, but it's like a 30 second ride.

It must have been the time of year or the weather forecast but we made quick time of tours. We were expecting rain today and almost didnt go but i am glad we did. I hadnt been to this attraction in years and this was the first trip for Suzy. I prefer to walk across but we took the tram.... More

While the attraction of this" little river park" is a mystery to me Mud island is not.I love mud island with its Quaint shops, great food (restaurant called Tugs and Paulette's) and beautiful park along the Mississippi River. A wonderful place to enjoy breakfast or dinner watch the sunset or stroll along the river. Love!

We walked from our hotel off Beale Street, little over mile. It opens at 10:00AM. We walked over the pedestrian bridge, great views. The park itself is amazing. Shows on the ground with water flow, how the Mississippi River runs, curves and all. Great signage all along the way to explain where you are on the river. No cost if... More

We read about this in USA Today's list of 10 great free things to do in Memphis. While it was free, we had to pay $6 to park [the guy at the guard house told us we could park outside and walk in for free..we paid the $6]. The river model is nearly half a mile long and traces both... More

The work put into the scale model project is overwhelming. We learned so much about the history of the river, the communities around it, and the people who lived and worked it. Granted, this would be a hot activity in the summer, but we enjoyed our walk "down the river to the Gulf" this spring. And it's free!

Lots of things to see and do, but it does require a lot of walking. I would not visit on a hot or rainy day.

Take the trolley across the water ($4 per person) or walk it if you want. Great museum on the other side. The sculpted miniature of the Mississippi River system is informative and fun for the kids to wade in. Just enough descriptions to be interesting. And then there is that little ol' river rushing past with occasional barge and paddle... More
