My husband and I learned so much about the history of the Memphis trolly system, the building of the railroad bridges and trains in general from the volunteers! The exhibits are first class. There are interactive exhibits that entertain and provide information to old and young alike. Model trains zip through villages built with an eye for detail. This is... More

This is a really great small museum with something for all ages. It is chock full of railroad history, some of these exhibits are one-of-kind. What is especially nice are the four electric train layouts, N Gauge; HO Gauge Thomas the Train with all his locomotive friends; a beautifully constructed scenic HO narrow gauge railroad;, and a city scape layout... The rail and trolley museum is a fascinating stop on Main Street for train lovers. Kids really appreciate the model trains and they have a space for parties.

The volunteers were very friendly. Gift shop had some nice gifts, not too expensive, doable. I was very interest in the HoBo signs.

We were very impressed with this little train museum. It was full of information, displays, hands-on exhibits, and obviously trains! My husband, young son, and I were all very entertained while there. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. It was a nice break in our travels.

Kids love trains! So a stop at the railroad and trolley museum is a must. My little guy stood for hours watching the train set up and hearing about all the interesting things about rail cars and how they operate.

Love this place! A must do in Memphis. And if you can get the backstage tour of the old tunnels, you will be AMAZED!

We didn't know the Railroad Museum existed! Stopped in and were glad we did. The volunteers are serious train buffs, some of them former employees of the railroads. Don't turn down a chance for a behind-the-scenes look at the cargo tunnel under the main train station.

Small but very nice museum. The kids (3 and 6) loved it and so did my husband. Great people running it. Friendly and helpful and love trains.

While walking through the area on our way to find some coffee, we encountered a man touting a railroad museum in the old Central Station that currently houses the Amtrak station. We found it to be both educational and entertaining. Great visit for train fans, but interesting for all, including children, in part because of the numerous running model trains.... More
