Worth Seeing if you are in town!

So, we aren't LA or NY, but I have been to 5 or 6 operas in the four years I've been to Memphis and I have never, ever been disappointed. Perhaps the first opera I saw here... read more

Although the organization has been around for over half a century, Opera Memphis is one of those local gems that often goes overlooked by many. I understand that opera has, for a long time now, been viewed as a snooty society thing, but it really is as it was always intended to be, the music of the people. Opera Memphis... More

Last night, I had my first taste of "going to the opera". Wow!! What an incredible experience seeing and hearing Mozart's Magic Flute. This is a family friendly opera with outstanding performers. Tips: Dress ranges from dressy to casual. If you are a student, they always have $10 rush tickets the night of the performance. Just show your student id.... More

So, we aren't LA or NY, but I have been to 5 or 6 operas in the four years I've been to Memphis and I have never, ever been disappointed. Perhaps the first opera I saw here, Tosca, had a slightly weak tenor. But every other since than has been fabulous. Got tix for Magic Flute next month and I... More

Sometimes they hold performances at different locations. I went to the Orpheum and the show was spectacular. They always do a great job and the shows are dramatic and exciting.

The new director is engaging the community and bringing opera to those who are not otherwise exposed to it. The level of awareness and involvement is growing. This is a good thing for Opera Memphis,

I haven't seen the Opera Memphis staff in action but I've seen some of their costume work up close and personal. I used to work for a company and we share the same building with Opera Memphis' costume department.

This Guy named Chang should be shot. What he did to a work of Shakespeare was to horrible to say only that he continued to do it for 2.5 miserable hours. AAAAARRRRGGG
