This was a lively bar that doesn't get going until 10. Burgers and chips are the only food they serve and people were eating them. They had a good live band and everyone was having a good time. This is a former brothel and a very interesting place to visit. No fancy beers or cocktails. Just cheap drinks and a... More

Burgers at midnight - how can you pass up a burger from a place that cooks them directly behind the bar? The aroma smacks you in the face! Yuuuum. Gritty atmosphere with serious people watching and live music until about 1am. Great way to end our trip in Memphis!

So not not what I expected, but the burgers are amazing and the people watching - off of the chain. Fun atmosphere.

OK, we didn't see any ghosts or apparitions or feel any cold spots (except under the Ghost River beer bottles) but I'm not sayin' it's beyond the realm of possibility. Certainly, besides a good burger and cold beer, this place has ATMOSPHERE and great stories! It has been featured in several movies (Elizabethtown, for one) and is going to be... More

If you like gritty, old dive bars, this is your place. It's poorly lit. Some of the floor-mounted bar stools are missing. The booths look like they could use a good bleaching and fumigation. It looks like the place is held together with spit and duct tape. This place exudes charm and it's probably where you should go if you... More

We were in Memphis for Beale Street Music Festival and we ended up here every night. The website says the place doesn't open until 5pm. Well, that isn't true. Happy Hour is posted as 5-8pm. The soul burger, the juke box and the history of the place are all claims to it's fame. But really it just has this welcoming... More

Pretty cool place. Loved the atmosphere, the beer and the famous soul burger. We had a look upstairs at what was once a brothel and is now reportedly haunted. We even got a few photos with some very strange images in them. If I ever visit Memphis again, I'll definitely visit again.

That's all I can say! You be the judge. We'll go back on our next visit in April. It's a place that you won't find anywhere but Memphis, TN. You must go because I'm still in shock. The drinks are great.

This lazy (smoking) café was the first pub in Memphis and even had a brothel upstairs that you can have a look at. (Just walk up the stairs). The spaces seem unchanged for the last 100 years. I suppose not everybody will like this pub, but we were fond of it. Locals eating a burger, having a chat with you,... More

This place is full of history and some scary stuff too!!! Took the ghost tour here. Took random pictures upstairs and still finding faces in the walls. 😱
