Well set up place with a separate car park & cafe area. Then walk up to the house & grounds which contain a fabulous walled gardens, walks around the lake & out buildings. The house was nicely furnished & it has a house cat who wanders around the house meeting all the visitors.

    Just love this place.
This is the most amazing place. It’s like the family and staff just got up one day and left. The rooms are laid out beautifully and just as they should be and the staff sections are fascinating. They worked so very hard and the kitchens, butter and cheese making rooms, cellars and laundry rooms give an idea of just how hard they did work. Into the gardens for memories of the old types of apples that we could buy and enjoy some years ago and they can be bought from the shop when available. They have pigs and horses, chickens, ducks and a turkey roaming around. The Gelyn Jones display is another part of this brilliantly laid out estate once again worth seeing with reminders of how hard life was in previous times. We took our 15 year old grandson to Llanerchaeron and he thoroughly enjoyed his visit too. In my opinion this is one of the National Trust’s finest properties; so interesting and full of varied walks of life. We will be back!

Fascinating place and super friendly staff
The house itself wasn't especially grand (compared to other national trust places) but it had an amazing atmosphere and the staff were so friendly and informative ~ lots of history and interesting extra facts! The farm animals and museum were brilliant too. I loved this place. Well worth a visit.

    A nice afternoon.
We had been meaning to visit Llanerchaeron for quite some time and spent a couple of hours there recently. The house and contents are well presented and interesting as are the nearby farm buildings. The lake and walled gardens are also well worth walking around and there is a nice cafe next to the car park with both indoor and outdoor seating (the menu is a bit limited probably due to us visiting early in the season). We enjoyed our coffee and cake at the outdoor seating and were delighted at the woodland birds that were casually feeding from the area ( chaffinch, nuthatch, blue tit, great tit, blackbird and maybe some others ), There is also a woodland walk near the cafe area which we may try out on our next visit in a couple of months time when we are returning to mid/west Wales for our holiday.

Pleasant setting. Woodland walk and river one side. House, gardens and lake the other. Nice cafe, dog friendly. Activities for the kids. House was open with friendly staff. Interesting display of Pamela Wards artifacts too.

    Different type of NT property
The estate is a great place to visit. Unlike many other national trust properties, it’s not a grand house as such but a ‘modest’ villa on a working farm property. The house is therefore smaller than most and whilst beautiful, is not ‘grand’ and the visit is as much about the working gardens, lake, farm yards, stables, animals and cropping. There are still animals about the farm which adds greatly to the experience. A large portion of the servants areas is also open, again adding greatly to the experience. In addition, there is an excellent cafe and the car park for the estate is central to many local walks in the area. Highly recommended.

    Contis cafe spoilt things
We had a lovely time looking round the NT property and decided to have a cuppa with food. Sadly the cuppa is served in paper cups, something that seems to becoming more common at NT properties. I asked for some extra hot water for my tea and initially was asked to pay a further 50p. The girl who served me was quite surly but fortunately the manager stepped in. We were eating too. I think this cafe is probably independent from the NT property. Sadly my experience at Contis cafe spolit an otherwise lovely visit. Food: 3/5 | Service: 2/5 | Atmosphere: 4/5

Great place to visit with excellent river walk nearby
Really enjoyed browsing all the outbuildings , discovering what they were used for. Great collection of all farm implements and various other items collector had picked up. Garden lovely to wander through. Could have done with more description of what rooms used to be for and old and new areas. Cafe is where you pay for tickets so shame there's none in grounds. Lovely Riverside walks leaving from car park shown on the NT map.

    Lots to do here
So much more to see and do than we expected. The house, outbuildings and gardens were very interesting, especially the old farm machinery in the farm building area. There are some lovely marked woodland walks in the area opposite the house. One downside, at the cafe if you wanted just a coffee, you ordered and were given a pager to be alerted when it was ready. We decided not to purchase any refreshments as the queue was long and was talking ages just to get the orders in and then there was the wait for it to be made.

Small NT site with lots to see
I can’t review the house as I had the dog with me. It’s the same price for gardens only but they are worth seeing. Beautiful walled garden with vegetables, flowers and ornamental ponds. Small area of farm buildings plus the incredible Geler Jones collection of farm machinery and related objects. Such foresight to collect and preserve them. Some lovely walks including round the lake and, next to the excellent cafe, along the river.

Visited recently when staying in Aberaeron. Expensive to get in as always with NT properties but expected. Wasn't able to visit house as queues all day. Walks were nice and gardens ok but needed a lot of tlc. The cafe was expensive, had very little choice and we served by a rude, unfriendly member of staff. The cake we bought was inedible and was returned. Explained we didn't want replacement and had our money returned by another, friendlier member of staff. My advice would be to take a picnic although the seating area also left a lot to be desired.

We visited on a grey cloudy day. House was close due to Covid. We were able to walk around the gardens, farm and lake. We also walked through the forest. Please note the map is incorrect. The red walk states that you can cross the river and double back, but you can’t, don’t choose this walk! Cafe closed, toilets open and cleanliness was good. Was ok to while away a few hours if you are NT members. We had a picnic outside the closed cafe but an entire visit probably wouldn’t stretch beyond 3 hours.

A really lovely walk from Aberaeron to Llanerchaeron. The only shame was we went on a Tuesday and it was closed on a Monday and Tuesday which was a real shame. We sat at the outside tables with many other people (about 30) who enjoyed the sunshine. The cafe missed out on a lot takings. You could walk around the woodlands but we just walked back to Aberaeron.

The House is lovely as are the grounds, a visit here is well worth the investment of 2 to 3 hours even on a wet day as when we visited. Full marks to the friendly volunteer guides and to the helpful notes explaining each of the rooms their history and use. We particularly enjoyed the walled garden though the greenhouses are now in a terrible state, hopefully they can be restored though I can understand there was a huge amount of work to do restoring this Nash building.

The only blot on our visit was our visit to the Conti Cafe, whilst the sparse choice of food is reasonable the staff really make it clear that visitors are an inconvenience and based on my experience yesterday can only be described as rude and dismissive. A shame as the setting should make the cafe a pleasant destination; at the moment it is not.

Beautiful house and gardens but I was treated appallingly in the cafe. I bought a cake for my daughter who is allergic to some nuts. There was nothing to suggest it contained nuts or any allergen information. She had a couple of bites and said she thought it had nuts in it. I went to the service hatch and enquired and it was confirmed it did contain almonds. When I commented that I hadn’t seen any allergen notice the manager came steaming over and told me it was up to me to ask. No empathy or concern was shown. All of the cakes were stored together and there would have been cross contamination. Disgusted by this woman’s attitude towards me and her blasé approach to allergens.

We visit the parkland most mornings to walk our dogs, meeting in the car park. It’s a lovely place to walk

However. Avoid the cafe if you don’t want over charging for a flat white that’s actually a cappuccino. It’s no good complaining the cafe manager is a bit of a shrew!

Shame as the rest of the estate is lovely

While visiting mid Wales & were in the area we decided to visit this national trust property which isn’t far from Aberaeron. There is a small cafe by the car park where you can grab a drink & a bite to eat. Some of the walks also start from here going around the estate grounds. You then go though the the entrance building adjoining the cafe & cross the road to enter the villa. This looks like a smaller national trust property that you could make into a comfortable home without having any staff. On entering you receive a brief history of the property & informed which route is best to take. Considering it was lived in until 1989 you couldn’t really tell & was more like 1889. The rooms are well laid out & it felt homely. Given the funds it could be be turned into a very nice property (but the national trust will keep it as it is).
Outside the property there are a range of farm buildings that you can also explore along with the grounds.
This property is well worth visiting if you are in the area.

We really enjoyed our visit here, so peaceful and quiet even on a Saturday in July.
We spent nearly an hour almost on our own in the huge walled garden, which was full of interest and variety of mixed herbaceous borders and well laid out fruit and veg beds, with a few ideas to "borrow" about supporting plants and taking your won seed for propagation.
The house was also worth a look around.
The cafe offering's were fine, but perhaps not as good as some NT places we have visited, possibly because the footfall is not large.

As a local I often pop into the cafe in Llanerchaeron, the staff of llanerchaeron and of the cafe have always been very welcoming and kind. I will always come back to Conti’s (the cafe), because of the food. The sandwiches are lovely, the coffee is fab and the ice cream is definitely the best in Wales. 10/10 would recommend.

The house and gardens are good to visit. Things are well explained in the house and the gardens are good for a stroll around afterwards. You can also cross the bridge for more extensive walks in the woods.
What really lets the property down is the cafe. I echo the comments of a previous reviewer that the practice of not serving the most basic of orders at the counter and making you wait around 15 minutes at your table instead is strange, inefficient and not at all customer-friendly. All we ordered was 2 drinks and 2 pieces of cake, nothing that needed to be cooked or just heated up. It would only have taken a few seconds to pass them over the counter to us. Why make us wait 15 minutes? And that was on a quiet weekday.
