Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens have undergone a spectacular transformation and are being restored to their former glory. First laid out in 1804 in the 'picturesque' style of Humphrey Repton, the famous Victorian landscape designer, the gardens had become derelict by 1996. There are 10 acres of gardens, included a 2 acre Walled Garden, fantastic valley gardens packed with unusual and interesting plants, flowering shrubs and trees; river and waterfalls. Home made cakes are served in the traditional Tea Room. Visitor Centre describing the history and restoration of the gardens. In 2015 open 12noon-5pm on Weds/Thurs/Suns in April; Tues/Weds/Thurs/Suns May-Sep; Weds/Suns in October. Pre-booked private group tours by appointment.

The gardens are a sheer delight. Hidden Gems. The restaurant was fabulous. The food was delicious and the staff very warm and welcoming. Dont miss it. The strawberry tree was in full bloom amongst many others. The primula candelabra were breathtaking. You just need to stand and stare. The lunch was delicious. Home made soup and cake........ The asparagus quiche... More

This garden is indeed a Hidden Gem. The effort that has gone into developing it over the years is amazing. At this time of year it is definitely stunning.

We reviewed Plas Cadnant about a year ago and said that we would be back. Well, we did go back and we still rate it as an excellent place to visit. The change in a year is fantastic. The new planting that was evident last year following the 2015 flooding has now made substantial growth and looks amazing. In particular... More

Fantastic garden laid out in a very compact footprint. However, laid out on a steep slope so the area outside the walled garden difficult for anyone with limited mobility. Cafe excellent range of light lunches etc. Great outside sitting area if it's fine

Our experience here was wonderful . The volunteers were friendly & helpful. My husband enjoyed sitting in his wheelchair looking out over the garden whilst my Mum & I explored further. Set within a large private park, the gardens were a riot of colour during May with lots of places to sit to take in the views

This was our first visit and we were very impressed .All the Azaleas were in full bloom and gave a spectacular display. On the downside this is not a good place for people with walking difficulties there are a lot of steep paths to negotiate. However for those more mobile it is well worth a visit.

"Hidden Gardens" is absolutely the right description. It is easy to speed past the entrance to Plas Cadnant and not realise the delights that lie beyond. A wonderful range of garden settings from formal to steep sloping banks along the river Cadnant means you need to allow at least two hours for your visit. And despite the limited opening times... This recently re-opened garden is an an excellent testiment to the drive and strength of heart of the owner. This privately owned garden was devastated by flood in 2015 and in two years the result of their hard work is stunning. Don't miss this gem of a garden. The tearoom is very good too. The Welsh Cheese and Asparagus Quiche... More
