The dam was built in 1890 to flood the valley and create a reservoir to supply water to Liverpool. Worth a drive whether you want to stay in the car, walk or cycle. Stunning scenery and 11 miles round if you fancy the exercise.More

This is a lovely place that you can visit, you can have a meal, ice cream, hire bikes, do water sports on the lake or just go for a walk, plenty of parking, some great views it also has a childrens play area.More

Lovely views and nice food. Very disappointing room. Paid same price as some friends did and had a room not half the size of theirs. Would stay again but not in that room. David BurrowsMore

The ride round the lake is tarmac so yes fine for scooters.
