Driving up to Machynlleth, we drove through the area of the Ynys Hir Wildlife Reserve. Simply stunning natural scenery. Well worth the detour and stopping to enjoy the views.

We spent a few hours walking around the reserve trails and saw a lot of birds. It was very peaceful.

Spotted a hobby here! Definitely need waterproof outdoor footware and it's a good walk. No cafe but a drinks machine available. Public toilets clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Plenty of fine walks, stunning views and amazing wildlife. Managed to see an adder on our way to one of the bird hides. Felt mildly uncomfortable by the hard sell trying to get us to join the RSPB.

Well worth a visit, to be able to see the variety of bids in one area and talk to the staff who's knowledge lets you know what to look for.
