Birdsland is a wonderful track within the Belgrave area. It is a water catchment with abundant wildlife. Fishing is available in the stocked lake.
There are 2 lakes, and creeks to explore. While I wouldn't swim in the lakes myself, I have been known to...More
Wonderful linear park along the Monbulk Creek valley. Flat walking around the two main lakes yet plenty of challenging hills to scale if you wish. The Bunjil climb is a highlight with great 360 degree views from the top.
I do like this place but my walks are frequently spoiled by the irresponsible, arrogant dog owners who let their little furry darlings harass the birds, bother walkers, attack other people’s dogs, chase the kangaroos and deposit their sh** all over the footpath.
Have been meaning to return to this venue. Took the opportunity twice post dining in Belgrave located a short distance away. Tranquil is the word. Lovely outlook. Walking trails well defined. Wind your way around from the carpark (can get busy in peak times however...More
Birdsland is being improved even more with a new rock feature near the picnic ground / BBQ area, which in winter should fill up a little with water, looks very nice with a type of clumping green grasses planted amongst the large rocks.

I’ve seen nesting water birds and kangaroos with joeys frequently being harassed by dogs whose owners are not able to control them. There are many signs stating dogs should be on a lead but too many selfish, ignorant owners disregard this. Some people are nervous of dogs and there are frequently young children walking and riding bikes. Keep your dog on a lead and don’t be an entitled Bogan like most dog owners who let their dogs run free. Bear in mind too that snakes are prevalent in this park. Here’s hoping they take out a few Fidos this season!!
