This station is one of a few bluestone railway stations on this line, neglected and not well maintained (Carlsruhe, Taradale and Harcourt come to mind). The active part of the station is more of a shed across the line from the historic part

A very intriguing story as to the downfall of this station, but it will be a nice example of a Victorian bluestone station once the local community gets their hands on it again. Train can only stop on the far side in its current state.

Glad to see this wonderful old railway station still operational in part. Buildings are historic gems and well worth preserving and being used. Too much of early Australian history has all too frequently been left to rack and ruin. Also take a look at the beautiful aqueduct that the train crosses as it leaves or arrives at the station.

Lovely, historic railway station that is thankfully still in operation and will hopefully be refurbished as more people opt for the tree change and need to commute in and out of the city.

Beautiful old station apparently will be for sale soon. The locals are not happy about this. If you want to see the viaduct you can see it from this road and better from the next. The station hasn't been manned for a while but is still an impressive building. Would love to see inside

Malmsbury grew up as an overnight stop on the gold rush route between Melbourne and Castlemaine's goldfields. It sits on the Coliban River which is crossed by a magnificent railway viaduct, the largest in Victoria when it was built in 1862. Just 500m further on, if you are coming from Melbourne is the equally historic Malmsbury Station. This area is... More

Unfortunately with the reduction of the former double track railway line through Malmsbury, north of Kyneton on the way to Bendigo, to one track through this imposing station, the main bluestone building does not now have a track next to it. Sadly the building is untenanted and boarded up. I just stood and admired its dark, brooding form recently and... More
