Belle Meade Plantation is a non-profit historic site located in Nashville, TN. Established in 1807, Belle Meade was revered as the greatest thoroughbred stud farm in the United States. It was home to Iroquois, the first American bred horse to win the Epsom Derby and the great foundation sire,Bonnie Scotland, whose descendants include Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Native Dancer, Big Brown and California Chrome.

Belle Meade was owned and operated by the Harding-Jackson family for nearly a century from 1807 until 1906. Today their home is restored to its turn of the century appearance along with several original outbuildings.

Belle Meade is a well maintained plantation and mansion. The presentation is from the late 19th century. We were the only two people on the tour (the prior group was very large), so we were able to ask our guide multiple questions. Other buildings, such as a carriage house and smokehouse are also available for touring. The tour also includes... More

This was part of the tour I was on as it wouldn't have been on my list to visit normally. It was very picturesque and interesting in places. The tour guide around the house was enthusiastic.

Interesting tour into American history and especially if you are interested in global horse racing. The tour was really informative, well segmented between rooms with different guides

My fondest memory of this place will be the young man Ryan, who waited on us when we had lunch there. This is just a quick shout-out to a very personable young man whom we just hit it off with while enjoying the food and his friendly conversation. A true asset to this establishment. As for the Plantation, the tour... More

This was an option with a group we were with for business. You never know how those will turn out-- about 25 minutes from downtown. We were fortunate to get the Curator, who usually doesn't do tours, to handle our group. We can't remember his name but he was OUTSTANDING-- best tour guide any of us had ever experienced. He... We purchased a Music City Total Access Pass at the Nashville Visitors Center @ 501 Broadway for $75 per person. One of the attractions we selected was Belle Meade Plantation. It is located 8 miles from the visitor center. We entered into the gift shop and scheduled a time to tour the mansion. We walked from the gift shop to... More

Signed up for the self-guided tour to walk the grounds and the mansion but then found out you need a guided tour for the mansion. It is not clearly post it or list it like that but we upgraded to the guided tour for the mansion and it was well worth it.prior to the new guy did mention to work... More

We were in town for a graduation, and had a fantastic tour of the mansion and grounds with a very knowledgable tour guide!! Sarah was not only a wealth of knowledge regarding the estate and family but of 19th century American history. We also did a wine tasting wi some very interesting wines crafted on the premises. We topped off... More
