Belle Meade Plantation is a non-profit historic site located in Nashville, TN. Established in 1807, Belle Meade was revered as the greatest thoroughbred stud farm in the United States. It was home to Iroquois, the first American bred horse to win the Epsom Derby and the great foundation sire,Bonnie Scotland, whose descendants include Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Native Dancer, Big Brown and California Chrome. Belle Meade was owned and operated by the Harding-Jackson family for nearly a century from 1807 until 1906. Today their home is restored to its turn of the century appearance along with several original outbuildings.

Enjoyed it a lot. Guide was very friendly with lots of witty puns throughout our tour. And we had a lot of fun walking around the grounds. We only tasted a few wines but they were very nice. Overall the only thing that could have...More

Loved Belle Meade and the beautiful 30 acres of land that it is situated. Wonderful knowledgeable guides give you a wonderful background of this historical fabulous for stud farm. Originally there were 5,000 acres. Highly recommended even though approximately 7 miles from downtown Nashville

The Belle Meade Mansion is a clean, well- preserved slice of historic Nashville. with a huge, cavernous carriage house and lovely trees. Cherriest thing about it, in my opinion, though, is jazz music, played to the public on the lawn through the summer months.

Horsebreeding background of the plantation is refreshingly different. The tour of the mansion was one of the best ones I've experienced. Wine tasting at end was enjoyable too. Awesome value with Groupon tickets.

Belle Meade is a stunning example of architecture, landscaping, and heritage. The home is decorated as it was in times of yore, and one can easily imagine life there as they traverse the halls of this lovely home.

Interesting, but pricey compared to comparable museum house tours. A major portion of the house is undergoing significant restoration at the time of this writing and therefore was closed to the public; the already-expensive admission price should have been discounted. The winery similarly was disproportionately...More

I did not notice any Segways on the Plantation. The landmarks are fairly close to each other and we're easy to walk to.
