Add some exotic to the everyday with Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. Wander through a lush canopy of bamboo, come face to face with a clouded leopard, feed some Australian parrots, and delve into the far reaches of the Amazon. Nashville Zoo is your ticket to African giraffes, poison arrow frogs, zebras, red pandas, kangaroos, gibbons, meerkats and much more!

Children of all ages will be fascinated with the zoo’s Highlighted Habitats. Find out why a baby giraffe likes warm temperatures. Walk the winding path through 4,500 square feet of naturalistic Australian landscape in the Kangaroo Kickabout. In the Kickabout, you will be in the home of a troop of red kangaroos. Keep your eyes and ears open for the cockatoos that also live in Kangaroo Kickabout.

In between your animal adventures, be sure to take a spin on our Wild Animal Carousel, get a new view of the Zoo from Soaring Eagle zip line, monkey around our 66,000-square-foot Jungle Gym, or even step back in time on the walking tour at our Grassmere Historic Home and Farm. When you visit the 1810 historic home, you will learn about the name “Grassmere” and how the zoo came to be located there.

For such a large space this is a very small zoo. There are no lions, no tigers, no bears, no elephants. To be honest if you enjoy seeing birds this is the place for you. I saw plenty of those. The space itself is nice and shaded in many places. The playground is really cool if you have kids 4-13.... More

Took a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old with a double stroller. Walkways are paved and in good condition. A warm day. Arrived just after it opened and that was helpful. Parking was fairly close at that time of day. Several of the enclosures were void of animals but based on the temp., not unusual. Small train ride... More

Not a lot of animals and very expensive rates, parking not included! They are trying to get more animals and expand but this was a disappointment as far as a zoo, however, if you have nothing else to do, it's ok for the kids, just don't expect a lot!

Typical of Nashville this is a low key place. You can even hang out, literally, with the Kangaroos. Dave Matthews went there a few weeks ago and talked about it all during his show. Lots to see and lots to do.

At only 20 years old, it's still a fairly new zoo. There are several exhibits under development, so it will soon be home to some new animals. No, they don't currently have lions, tigers, elephants, or bears but what they do have have very nice exhibits and I believe a tiger exhibit was under construction. One of my favorites was... More

Disappointed. Didn't have lions, tigers, elephants, chimps, gorillas. The military discount was laughable at only $2 off. You do a lot of walking for little reward.

The zoo is smaller than most we visit. The food vendors closed early, so we didn't get a treat. Seemed like most animals were not out yet. We didn't see much.

What a wonderful, warm temperatured day at the zoo. We were pleased that our admission cost was reduced because we are members of another Big City Zoo. There is a lot of construction going on so we missed the polar bears, the hippos and one or two others but all these exhibits should be open by July (2017). The aviary... More

I have only been to one other Zoo (I'm not big on animals). Overall the kids enjoyed themselves the walk was very pretty and zoo friendly. I really liked the pathway and how everything connected so smoothly. It was cool to see so many animals up close. They had plenty of animals touched and get cleaned up afterwards. :-) The... More
