Passed through on our way to the market

Hiked up the hill to get to the market from downtown hotel. Nice views. Was the weekend so only a visit of the grounds.

Tours are available from Monday-Friday on an hourly basis (but not at 12) and as long as you don't mind the large groups of schoolkids who visit daily, it is an interesting building to see. You can go into both Senate & Representative chambers (as long as they aren't in session of course). It is a lovely building inside and... More

I walked to the State Capitol Building from Bicentennial Park, so my walk included climbing 140ish steps up the hill from the back of the building. There were small memorials around the grounds. It is one of the few State Capitol buildings without a dome, and on our Hop-on, Hop-off tour one of the guides mentioned that the architect, William... More

We visited this Capitol on May 12th. If you visit multiple places in the neighborhood than you can park your car in the Library Garage (139 7th Ave). After the usual security check we fetched a self guided walking map. In every state we visit the State House. This one is not very interesting. The architecture is not very beautiful.... More

We were sidled through from the torrential rain when we arrived and as the houses were sitting the tours were limited, but we were soon cheered up. Really interesting tour and a great guide. As our whole group were foreign she spent time explaining many things to us that locals may have known. Really enjoyed it and it was educational... More

State Capitol is free to visit but not worth it. I was confused on location of everything. No parking close by, no help desk, or maps. Skip the inside, grounds are pretty though. Head to the Tennessee state museum instead.

The outside is very impressive, but the inside was awesome! The stone work is great and so is the woodwork. Take a walk out on the balconies and get a great view of Nashville. Well worth your time.

Hard to believe this building withstood the Civil War and the crazy rapid development of downtown Nashville. It has been standing majestically in the center of this city and state for nearly 200 years. Take a look any time and be impressed.

We didn't go inside but the Capital is nice a walk on a sunny day. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Plus Polks grave is pretty interesting. Didn't get to see the others. Maybe next time.

We reached this building during the rush hour and it proved to be an oasis of calm. We wondered around, not having anyone around us and noticed there is a statue of Andrew Jackson, who I discovered is a hero in New Orleans only last years. Great views, great location.
