Grew up in this area and have visited almost everywhere in the Smokey Mountains. This swinging bridge has been around since I was a little girl. We use to come to the mountains almost every weekend and Townsend would be one of our stops. This is a wonderful memory and so glad we stopped and strolled across the bridge. We... More

Love the swinging bridge to Dark Island we found in Townsend, Tennessee. What a wondeful thing to still have a swinging bridge preserved and assessable to the public. It is a beautiful location. If you are passing thru this is a great spot to stop and enjoy! Does not take alot of time, but worth the stop. Enjoy the beauty... More

Love this swinging bridge we found while visiting in Townsend!! So fun to cross over with beautiful views of the river!!! Beautiful property on both ends and a lovely elderly couple lives on the far side!!! Rustic old barn and scenery to die for. Great pictures, great fun, and a great little treasure!!! Just a short walk on the bridge across Little River. Summer will be tubing underneath. The view of the water is pretty!

This is just a quick little thing you can do while in Townsend . Its not a long bridge by any means . You just walk to the other side and turn around and come back . You get a view of the river from the bridge .

This swinging bridge is just a fun thing to do. You can walk on it, take pictures and look at the river and that's about it! It is close to the Little River Railroad Museum.

If you have never been on a swinging bridge I suggest you stop and take a walk across. The property on the other side is private so when you get to the end turn around. Make sure you do not park in the road or on private property. Miss Lilly's across the street has a parking lot and seem to... More

Beautiful view of the Little River. No admission fee, easy access. Bridge is stable, but of course, it's not for everyone.

Stopped on our way to dinner and let the kids run across. Appears to lead to private property. Stop if you need to kill some time with the kids. Otherwise, there's not much to see here!

I thought all the swinging bridges in the area from when I was a kid were all long gone. Fortunately when I mentioned it to the lady at the Little River Railroad Museum she told me about this one that was not only still standing but maintained by the city and safe and usable. What a blast into the past... More
