You must see this place at or near sunset. Pull over and watch the beauty over Maryville unfold. There is also a nice hike up to the weather tower with even more breathtaking views. Excellent Motorcycle ride.

Great drive outside of the smokies. Not as crowded as the park but just as pretty. Very well maintained by the park service

Very cool scenery and plenty of places to stop and take some incredible pictures, just make sure yo know where you are going. One wrong turn and you are on the trail of the dragon(318 curves in 11 miles) we ended up getting a little bit lost, and decided to take the 3 hour drive instead of going back over... More

I love to come to the mountains and watch the sun set. It is a great view The mountains! Cade's cove is also a cool place up there.

Lovely ride, hard to watch road with so much beauty passing by. Had to pull over sometimes to take it in and get photos.

Drove the Foothills Parkway on our way to the Tail of the Dragon. The views were frequent and breathtaking. The road was also in good shape and the speed limit was generally a good fit (45 mph). It seemed like a very accessible way to enjoy some of the greatest vistas of the Smoky Mountains.

We drive this road at least once every time we're in the Townsend area. It's a lovely drive no matter what the season. We also think there's usually less traffic. Drive as much or as little of the road as you wish.

By all means make sure you get up this road for sunrise - wonderful view, and we had the great fortune of having just a perfect cloud mix. About 5 miles form main highway, we looked back and saw the fog rolling over the pass like waterfall.

The Foothills Parkway is a wonderful, quiet and peaceful drive. Winter, Summer, Fall or Spring, the mountain views will never disappoint.

Good views but hard to drive and appreciate at same time. Also not much different than in National Park and Park has more places to see and stop. Okay for coming through.
