A lovely drive with lots of great long distance views. Its only minor drawback is that it kind of lacks a true destination...other than emptying on US 129 at Chilhowee Lake....so while the road itself is excellent, its kind of hard to make a fully scenic loop out of it without going on some extremely steep and curvy roads (i.e.... Starting at Hwy 321 going toward Townsend you will have a lovely drive toward the ending point at Chilhowee Lake. Views are amazing and there are numerous pulloffs for pictures or on the ground picnics. In inclement weather the road will be closed. Look Rock walking trail is located about 1/2 way up the parkway. We go there every chance... More

We checked out a Lexus from Blackberry Farm, and drove the Foothills Parkway, down to Chilhowee and Hwy 129. The last time we made this drive was in the Spring, three years ago, and though the trees were mostly bare on this day, the beauty is still there. As usual, traffic was light, so there was plenty of time for... More

We took a drive on the Foothills Parkway on December 29, 2016. We stopped at the overlook that is near the tower you can climb. The views were stunning. We will definitely return during the fall color season to enjoy these views again. Six members of our group climbed the tower to get the best views and they loved it.

We found the Foothills Parkway by chance on our way to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and I am glad that we took it to enjoy the scenic drive. There are plenty of places to stop and just take in the gorgeous scenery. Not to mention the photo opportunities. We were there in late November (just after Thanksgiving) and... More

This is an awesome way to spend a few hours driving the peaceful drive along the foothills parkway. especially in the fall of the year when the leaves are in full bloom with all their magnificent colors. If you have enough time, when you get to Lake Fontana, drive the Dragon's Tail, and make the loop. A little long, but... More

We stayed a little ways away from the parkway so we traveled it at least twice a day for a week and loved the beauty. What was nice about this area was it is a ways away from the crowds and traffic and nice restaurants and shops close by.
