There are a few shops and businesses to stroll through. It will take an hour or so including lunch. Parking is a nightmare. Most of the appeal is above the street line of site. Only two small antique shops with a limited inventory. This is still a mainly working downtown with business supply, several banks, travel agency, financial business, insurance... More

It is fun to stroll and shop in the historic Bastrop downtown area. There are various eateries and wonderful boutiques. I enjoy going for lunch or an afternoon pie and one of the downtown restaurants. There are several fun boutiques to browse and shop at.

This is one of the more quaint and interesting downtown areas that I visited on my trip to Texas. There's some nice historic architecture and some good shops and restaurants. Nice place to stroll, shop and eat.

It was a great place to take an afternoon stroll and see some of the shopping the area had to offer. I picked up a map at the visitor's center and did the public artwork tour of the town also. Charming place that is outside of the big city

When we visit family in Bastrop, we always spend a day walking up and down Main Street. It's like taking a walk back in time. All the shops, the friendly people, the conversation, the food (Make sure you try Maxine's!!), the stories you hear, etc... It's just relaxing to stroll Main Street. On the first Friday of every month, they... More

Free Angle parking and parallel. Brick predominates. The shopping district seems to have survived big box stores. A mix of specialty stores, eateries and bars, banks and civic buildings

Just walk the streets, visit the stores , shop around and listen to the stories , and you will really enjoy and be very impressed, with what you see and hear. You will see several great places to eat, all are reasonability priced, and you can expect good service.
