Fossils, Texas history, legends and rumors all play a unique part in the story of Longhorn Cavern. We took 4 adults and 5 kids to Longhorn Cavern State Park for the walking tour while camping at Inks Lake. The weather was rainy, but that only makes it better, no worries about the rain while in the cave! You have to do a tour to enter the cave. We did the walking tour, you can also do the... More

1st tour of the day, my wife and I were the only ones there, and the tour went on as scheduled, tour guide was very knowledgeable and courteous. We have Ben in several caves, but this is the only one that was formed by a river!

Longhorn Caverns is about an hour and fifteen minutes from Austin and worth the time and drive to see it. My entire family enjoyed the tour and would go back again. They tour every hour and don't appear to take advance reservations. Arrive early to make sure you don't have to wait to join the guided tour. Also it can... More

a unique and historically relevant opportunity. the cavern tour is interesting and well worth the price/time. though our guide got a tad bit snippy with us, laggers taking too many pictures for his liking, he provided fascinating insight into not just geology but the people who have left their marks upon the cavern...sometimes literally. from comanches to confederates, to elegant... If you want to go on a tour you have to buy tickets and be prepared to wait about an hour for your tour to start. We had the 12:30 tour and waited with a group of 25 others. After 15 minutes after the scheduled time some of us went in to see what the hold up was. Apparently they... More

We went with our 2 year old and had a good time. We took our BOB stroller so you can definitely take one. There are a lot of steps to get down to the cavern. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had some good jokes. :) Great way to best the heat!

We only seen the exterior of the cave mouth. It was free and did not cost anything, but was very pretty and quick.

Longhorn Cavern State Park is a very unique park in that it's not that big and it doesn't have things like camping or cabins. What it does have is very educational. The cavern itself is so awesome. You have to take a guided tour to see it and it's a little pricey ($15 for each adult and $12 for kids... More

The drive along Park Road 4 (from Buchanan Dam) was a great beginning to our cave tour. Have never seen so many Indian blankets and bluebonnets - spectacular! Definitely make this trip during the spring. The history and work of the CCC in developing this area is amazing. Once inside the cave, the rock formations and subterranean views do not... More
