We've been on more hikes than we could ever count, in Ca., Ok., and Tx., but the lighthouse hike is my all time favorite. The views are just beautiful, in every direction. Always something to look at, as you're hiking. I'd say it wasn't too...More

Hiked alone. 6 miles round trip. At end of trail you climb up and up to a mesa that is at base of lighthouse formation. Would be hard for young kids. Worth it!!!

Despite the heat and stinging flies, the hike to Lighthouse is an easy walk. The trail is well marked with mileage markers every 10th of a mile. If hiking in summer, be smart and carry a minimum of one gallon of water.

Take lots of water. This is the trail more people die on in the whole park. Why because they go out at the hottest part of the day, don't take enough water, and don't pace themselves. This is the easiest trail we did in the...More

I hiked this trail on a very low health condition, with not much sleep and not much fluids in my body- but even at that, I loved and enjoyed this very much, the hike back was amazing, the evening colors, everything was so great!

Hit the trail around 9am on a clear day. This is a very easy walk / hike, on a very well maintained trail. The last half mile or so is a little more challenging. At that point there are some rocks to climb and negotiate,...More

This is a flat hike with beautiful canyon walls surrounding you. We went in June and the wild flowers were starting to pop out. This hike takes you to a picnic table to the bottom of the Lighthouse hoodoos. You than take a rock scramble...More

I had a blast. I highly recommend that you set out as early as possible. I started at 7:15 and finished in less than 3 hours even going all the way up to the plateau of the Lighthouse. I got back to my car before...More

You might expect this review to be about nature, beauty, hiking, biking or something like that. The best part of this trail is the people you will meet. This is obviously the most famous trail in Palo Duro Canyon so everyone who goes will walk...More

Hi Samuel: I am totally jealous that you are going to be doing Lighthouse soon! Please read my two reviews before you head out. It's a 2.72 miles each way. Usually takes me about 3 hours, depending on weather, how many... More
