If you need to escape from the large Dallas metroplex and don't want to drive hours White Rock Lake is the place to go. Such a beautiful and open park you can spend hours just walking around the lake or bbqing with some friends.

The trail was nice, not too many people on the trail but just enough to feel safe. The lake was pretty dirty but that's visitor's fault. Would definitely come back for another walk.

The downside of living in a big city is that you need a place which is easily accessible, family friendly with multiple options and free :) Despite staying in DFW for 2 years, this was our first visit to the lake. We have seen it...More

I consider WRL to be our Central Park. While it may not have nearly as many features and extras, its definately just as much as a place to escape for a few minutes or all day if you like.

We attended a wedding here. It was very nice. We watched the sunset while seeing the city across the lake. It is a beautiful place to go and relax. Our son enjoyed being able to run around and get some fresh air.

There is no charge for parking anywhere at Whiterock Lake. Keep in mind that the Dallas Arboretum borders the lake and they do charge for parking there.
Hi, are there any covered shades or canopy where one can sit and rest if it is sunny and hot? Any electric connection to connect your stove, grill or toaster?
