We visited Ennis during the bluebonnet peek season which is late March early April, it has been one of the most amazing experience ever! We actually took our bikes instead. There is a map you can acquire at the information cemetery. We follow that map which shows the bluebonnet trails or the places where there is a photo opportunity. My... More

Ennis might not actually have MORE bluebonnets than other places in Texas. But what they DO have is a MAP! There are over 40 miles of mapped bluebonnet trails. We live in the area and love to drive the trails every April. This year there were more Indian Paintbrush than Bluebonnets. Every year is different. This year was ok but... More

A wonderful drive thru the flowers. It was like being in the hill country, yet not as far to get there from Fort Worth! We stopped at the winery on the trail for some wine and cheese, then had many photo opps along the driving trail. It was beautiful!

Nice well marked trail, the grass is tall and flowers few this late in the season so you have to look harder for nice photos. Here are some photos for inspiration. Enjoy the drive.

This is a beautiful drive through Texas Hill Country. The turns on the trail are clearly marked so it is easy to drive & look at all of the beautiful bluebonnets & Indian paintbrush.

Brought my wife to Ennis to drive the Bluebonnet Trails. Used the trail map from visitennis.org, but the trails are well marked. Unfortunately, due to recent rains, the grass was extremely tall, and the bluebonnets not so abundant. But there were several thick patches worth stopping for. A few property owners allow you to enter their property to walk out... More

We got here a week too late and most of the bluebonnets were gone. we still drove the marked out trails and enjoyed a wonderful ride through central Texas farms and ranches. We enjoyed seeing the long horn cattle and the Belguim horses. The horse owners have barrels of oats to feed them with.

The entire Bluebonnet Festival and the Bluebonnet Trail was very well organized! The folks of Ennis are so friendly and helpful! The Trail was well mapped out and the directions we were given were very easy to follow. The patches of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes were gorgeous! Lots of beautiful pictures! We will definitely be going back next year!

Maybe we were a bit early, but the country roads of Ennis were no more blubonnetted than the medians of dallas. Sure there were some picuresque farms to enjoy, but really, this was a lot of hoopla about very little. Save the drive time and find a patch near you.
