My wife and I stopped in the museum expecting a 30-60 minute visit. We actually spent 3 1/2 hours! Now I'm not a Civil War buff, but this museum is a hidden treasurer. I was told it is the personal collection of a gentleman who worked in the oil & gas industry. Given the nature of the collection that makes... More

Thank you for visiting the museum and spending the time to apprecaite the collection and review it. There are actually three collections housed here--the one you mentioned, the Texas Confederate collection which began in 1904 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Victorian Dress collection. We hope you will be able to visit us again as we are... More

Good for people of all ages. Especially good for school students age 10 and up. I like to go during mid week when crowds are smaller

Many museums have a few pieces here or there from the civil war, but this collection is incredible. I've never seen so many civil war era artifacts in all other museums combined, granted I haven't been to one in Gettysburg. There is so much to see here from the dozens and dozens of weapons, both bladed and gunpowder, to medical... More

This is a very nice place to visit. It is not large, but took us about 2 hours to walk through and look at everything. It has a great set of historical items and we enjoyed it very much.

This museum is really impressive in its collection of Civil War artifacts, including extensive collection of battle flags, displays of medical supplies, cannons, sabers, uniforms and so many interesting personal items. The displays are separate for the Confederacy and the Union, which highlights their stark differences. The Victorian Dress collection is outstanding, too. Male or female, young or old, will... More

Let the back office thank you for visiting with us. I will check to see what might have been happening that was a cause for the unwelcome response. We hope you will come again and know that you are always welcome. More

I took my girls(ages 11 and 9) to this museum yesterday to reinforce the history curriculum this year. They were excited about the scavenger hunt and took their time and worked together to get all the answers. It's the perfect museum to get some perspective on the reality of war and civil war artifacts.

We found the displays and information presented in the Texas Civil War Museum simply wonderful! Displays on weapons, musical instruments (loved the bugle and drum sound tracks), medical displays, and don't miss the ball gowns. They have an activity to involve children so they'll have a good time too. The video presentation added so much to our visit. The staff... More
