Formerly the Nimitz Museum, the complex is now America's only museum...

Formerly the Nimitz Museum, the complex is now America's only museum centered on World War II's Pacific campaign.

Since 1968, the Museum has expanded to occupy a six-acre campus and gained a reputation as one of the premier military museums in the nation. Over the years the Museum was upgraded and enlarged, and the campus grew to accommodate the Memorial Courtyard, the Plaza of Presidents and the Japanese Garden of Peace. We opened the expanded George H. W. Bush Gallery in 2009. The Gallery's state-of-the-art 33,000 square foot exhibition features 40 media installations, approximately 900 artifacts in 97 climate-controlled cases, 15 macro-artifacts, and hundreds of photographs. Two blocks east of the main campus is the Pacific Combat Zone for guided tours of macro-artifacts and regularly scheduled combat re-enactments.

We had no idea how wonderful and well done this museum would be. Obviously the subject matter is sobering but the information shared for all who visit is still and especially relevant today. Lessons learned should be mandatory for all World Leaders. It seems there are common parallels with some world thinking today and events leading up to this and... More

One of best museums that I have ever visited. I visit at least 1 every couple of years because of all the changes they make. There have been many improvements that I have not had the opportunity to see yet. You could spend several hours to see everything.

We spent around 5 hours visiting the museum. The displays were very informative and well presented. Lots of information most people aren't aware of. Easy to understand for most ages

I've been to the National WWII Museum and saw how that transitioned from the National D-Day Museum to the National WWII Museum and frankly, it still has to catch up to what I saw today with regards to the War in the Pacific. As much as four sections of the museum were devoted to understanding the seeds of why the... More

I am not a real war buff so I was surprised at how much both I and my granddaughter, who is getting ready to go into the Navy, enjoyed this museum complex. We also learned a lot about Admiral Nimitz and I had never seen a steamboat hotel before. Interesting architecture.

A good bit of history. I was pleasantly surprised with this town and preservation efforts. Add it to your list, before or after the winery.

We wish we had more time. We were told about this place by a couple we met at Six Flags. So glad that we made the detour to see this amazing museum. This should be on everyone's to do list.

I was in the museum several years ago. The museum has expended greatly. There are new buildings displaying a PT BOAT and a aircraft that flew off an aircraft carrier. I was impressed. Even my 14 years old grandson was impressed. We spent 4 hours over 2 days with the purchase of one ticket. We worth the $.
