Overview
More
Formerly the Nimitz Museum, the complex is now America's only museum centered on World War II's Pacific campaign. Since 1968, the Museum has expanded to occupy a six-acre campus and gained a reputation as one of the premier military museums in the nation. Over the years the Museum was upgraded and enlarged, and the campus grew to accommodate the Memorial Courtyard, the Plaza of Presidents and the Japanese Garden of Peace. We opened the expanded George H. W. Bush Gallery in 2009. The Gallery's state-of-the-art 33,000 square foot exhibition features 40 media installations, approximately 900 artifacts in 97 climate-controlled cases, 15 macro-artifacts, and hundreds of photographs. Two blocks east of the main campus is the Pacific Combat Zone. Recently reopened after an $8 million renovation. The PCZ is also home to our popular WWII Pacific Combat Program that takes place on set weekends throughout the year.

Many photos of the ships that these soldiers served on during the war. Information that many of us just don't know about and can read about at this location.

I am a wwii history buff. This is one of the finest museums I have ever visited. The layout of the museum was a flow chart to the war in the pacific. It had almost too much information. The exhibits were superb. Most museums have...More

After several friends and neighbors shared how much they enjoyed this museum, we decided to go. We spent at least 2 hours and only made it through one building. I see now why the tickets are good for 3 days. We toured the WWII exhibits,...More

I didn't enjoy this museum, only because I don't get into war museums, but it was extremely well done. Others in our group who were interested in WWII history loved the museum. Definitely worth the stop if it is your thing!

Great museum for history buffs. You will come out with a new perspective on WW2. They tell you that it will take 48 hours to read every exhibit, see everything, and watch every film. The gift shops have a great selection of books.

That depends on your interest level. If you just want to go through and see the highlights then give yourself at least 2-3 hours. Our tickets are good for 48 hours so you can come and go as you like.
