Overview
More
Formerly the Nimitz Museum, the complex is now the only museum in the Continental United States centered on World War II's Pacific campaign. Since 1968, the Museum has expanded to occupy a six-acre campus and gained a reputation as one of the premier military museums in the nation. Over the years the Museum was upgraded and enlarged, and the campus grew to accommodate the Memorial Courtyard, the Plaza of Presidents and the Japanese Garden of Peace. We opened the expanded George H. W. Bush Gallery in 2009. The Gallery's state-of-the-art 33,000 square foot exhibition features 40 media installations, approximately 900 artifacts in 97 climate-controlled cases, 15 macro-artifacts, and hundreds of photographs. Two blocks east of the main campus is the Pacific Combat Zone. Recently reopened after an $8 million renovation. The PCZ is also home to our popular WWII Pacific Combat Program that takes place on set weekends throughout the year.

The four of us really enjoyed this attraction. The building is beautiful and the lay out of the displays is easy to maneuver and view. Nimitz was instrumental in WWII and was from this area. You can tour his home, too. You will take a...More

We spent hours here. There was so much information especially about Admiral Nimitz. Then we spent a lot of time in the memory garden. We never did go to the George H.W. Bush Gallery as we were tired out by then. You get to see...More

This is my second visit and I'm so impressed. The history, the exhibits, the stories, and the development is beyond words. It's touching. Admiral Nemitz is a man worth knowing and honoring. Take your families and explore WWII in a personal way. 💗

We enjoyed our visit and hope the world learns from our past mistakes and stop fighting each other. People forget how many people died in that war.

That depends on your interest level. If you just want to go through and see the highlights then give yourself at least 2-3 hours. Our tickets are good for 48 hours so you can come and go as you like.
