We arrived on a Thursday morning and were absolutely amazed by the beauty of this church, stained glass and painted ceilings!!!! We’ve seen quite a few painted churches around Texas and St. Mary’s is just as beautiful and unique as the others!!! Thanks to the...More

When my wife and I lived in West Germany back in the '70s, we visited many old ornate Catholic churches. St. Mary's didn't disappoint. It's a must see while you are visiting Fredericksburg.

We went to Mass at St Marys when visiting Fredericksburg because it's the only Catholic church in town. It is an active and thriving parish. We immediately felt welcomed and at home.

The only reason I gave this church 4 instead of 5 stars is because I looked around for a brochure or pamphlet describing some of the art work and if they have one, I could not find it. My mother and I enjoyed sitting and...More

With photography as a hobby, love to visit great architecture. St. Mary's Catholic Church is beautiful on the exterior, with an unbelievable sanctuary. Yet, I may have preferred the original chapel next door with its unusual blue stained glass windows. The newer cathedral is simply...More

Be sure to see this church. The Original was built when Fredericksburg was settled and it burned down. The rebuilt church is small next door to this Church. this Church was built later to accomidate the growing congregation.

Loved enjoying the churches on this block-especially as they were preparing for Easter Sunday. You could see the progression of builds and the beauty of each building. Well done on the community for preserving the history.

The "new" church is beautiful - reminded us of one we saw in Ireland! But...the original church next door is equally beautiful, very simple with blue glass windows! Be sure to visit it also.

St. Mary's is actually two churches right next to each other. If you read the plaques, you will find the smaller church to the north was the second church built. The first being an even smaller wood structure. When the congregation continued to grow, the...More
