Informative and an easy walk

We found this to be an good history of the area and worth the short visit. The on going restoration gives a good idea of what the fort was like.

We didn't make it back to Fredericksburg in time on Monday to visit the Fort and the Texas Rangers Center. Planned to stop on Tuesday as we left town. We were disappointed to learn they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our only experience were the views from the road. Looked interesting.

This looks like a work in progress. There are a few buildings remaining from the original fort, and a few identified by rocks where the foundations used to be. It has reader boards with some interesting information. Expect to walk, the buildings are well-spaced.

My husband and I had a wonderful time visiting Fort Martin Scott. So exciting to see history up close. What I thought was sad is that we were the only ones here to see this. Cars driving by the whole time we were here and no one else stopped. People are so much in a hurry these days, I guess... More

It's located next to the Texas Rangers Center so it's easy to visit both at the same time. It takes 30 minutes to an hour to see all the buildings in the fort.

Historical Army post. Most of the buildings there are reconstructed from period type materials. displays of uniforms and artifacts that were excavated from the original post.

Good history lesson for the period when this was the American frontier. A few preserved buildings, a few reconstructed buildings. A small, but informative visitor center. Free, with donations requested. Well worth a stop. Adjacent to the Texas Rangers Heritage Center and Memorial, which is fairly new and will attract your visual attention first.

It was great to enjoy the unseasonably warm February weather while wondering the historical markers and reconstructed buildings. Don't forget to get your Hill County passbook stamped!

At first you think the venue is all about the Texas Rangers. The Rangers are very very awesome. The sites are interlinked and worth a visit.

Stopped here to see what it was about and was amazed at all the history of the area. We spent about an hour, but could have spent a lot more time. It was right by the highway and was not too busy at the time we were there.
