Fun, short hike

While my wife and I were visiting Fredericksburg and staying in the Hampton Inn she saw an article in a magazine about Cross Mountain. This struck our interest as we have been in and around Fredericksburg for over 30 years and had never heard of it before. We decided that we would check it out before we left town. Cross... More

The views. Oh, the views. This little gem just right outside of town is a fantastic activity. A super easy hike ending with some of the most amazing views you can imagine (without going all the way out to the Rock). Entrance is free, parking is free and plentiful. There are some park benches at the top if you want... More

I live in the area and really like this little park. The zig-zag fence entrance is weird, but the trails themselves and the views are nice and relaxing. I really like that there are a couple of places to sit to enjoy the view.

This is a really cool little place to stop. It's pretty quick, but you get some really cool views from the top. I love that there is a Cross mountain here. Thank you!

Ample parking. Very easy hike. I would definitely NOT wear sandals or thin shoes. It's all ROCK. My mom and I hiked up the trail maybe took 10 minutes and hid behind a tree til my brother brought up his girlfriend and proposed to her... great view great place for picnic and bottle of wine...

Short, steep hike up to large, old cross on the top of the mountain. 360 degree view at the top. Has several places to sit if you want a lunch spot with a beautiful view of the hill country.

We saw signs for this place on our way back from the Enchanted rock. After looking up some information, we decided to visit before dinner time. It is a short hike (5 min at the most) but it's worth taking because of a pretty view of the town and surrounding hills. We were there right before the sunset and the... More

Referred to this little known gem via a helpful park ranger at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, I have no problem giving this easy-to-get-to hiking-mountain view of Fredericksburg a full five stars. Locals have carefully built walking steps parallel to the slippery gravel path winding up the small hill. Parking is plentiful. And the view is the best of Fredericksburg... More

Take a walk after dinner and watch the sunset from the top of this hill. Just get back down before it gets too dark. Beautiful view!
