Well maintained park reasonably separated from densely populated beach communities. We has a peaceful afternoon there. Mostly couples or families on beach. Larger groups in picnic areas behind dunes. Don't forget that alcohol consumption is prohibited in park and on the beach, as are all...More

We enjoy visiting state and national parks so of course we wanted to check this one out. However, when we arrived it didn't appear there was anything to see, so we didn't even get out of the car. I wouldn't waste my time.

While travelling for business, I chose to save some money on a hotel and cross out a bucket-list item by camping on the beach. While the campsites are over a dune from the water, it was close enough. The campsites are very nice, and the...More

The beaches have under gone extensive renovation since the last hurricane. They are dredged daily and there is hardly any trash making for a nice experience

We loved staying at the state park. They have electric and water. We stayed in campground A so we were real close to showers.

Drive away from the main tourist area and enjoy the peaceful beaches. Plenty of parking and access to the beach about every mile. We had a great time walking in the water and looking for shells.

Spring migration was happening while we were at Galveston Island State Park. That meant hundreds of migrating birds heading north across the Gulf from South America. The best place to view the migrating birds was on the bay side of the State Park. I grabbed...More

I was there and some strong weather had came through but it was still a very beautiful place to visit and I highly recommend that you go there if your close to the location.

A very neat palce to walk and around and take in the sights. If timer permits rent a kayak and enjoy the calm waters, heard the fishing was good as well. Camping is available in designated areas.

is the turtle walk at a certain time? I am guessing the turtles are on the beach at a certain time of the day.

I am not sure of the time either. You might want to call or see if they have a schedule on their website. They have such a great park, good luck.

I don't see any information about a playground for kids. Do you have one there?
