This was by far one of the coolest experiences in Galveston, TX. As one who is plagued with motion sickness, I was afraid I would end up being sick over the side rail of this huge ferry. I was delightfully surprised when I was able to walk to the front of said ferry and watch the DOLPHINS swimming along side... More

We did the ferry ride to kill a little time and enjoyed it! Saw quite a few dolphins on the way there and back. Wait time wasn't bad (on Wednesday mid-day).

Fortunately, I don't live far from Galveston - only about 50 miles - and for 40 years I've been riding this ferry at all hours of the day and night. Days can have a long wait in the hot sun as cars line up for the pleasure ride. But you can park our car and walk on the ferry if... More

The Galveston-Port Bolivar Ferry is a little surprise for someone that has never ridden on a larger sized sea vessel. The Ferry personnel are very organized and the experience is very nice. There is no boarding fee and the ferry takes you back and forth to Bolivar and Galveston. Taxes at work.

Unfortunately the wait time can be long for a quick trip across the bay. It's pretty & does save time, but waiting with a 3 year old ... enough said.

If you've never been on a ferry, get on one! I thought it was going to be scary at first and it kind of was but then it became awesome! Seagulls fly around every where and the dolphins like to follow the ferrys and jump in front of them!

This is an opportunity to drive your car onto a ferry and the 40 minute ride across the channel to Bolivar Peninsula is fun. You see the water the lighthouse and lots of birds. You can get out of your car and tour the ferry operations.

We did not have to wait at all during the weekday but both times we have crossed on the weekends, we have waited 45 minutes once we got up to the staging area. This weekend there seemed to be no reasoning to how the boarded vehicles. Lines that had waited 10 minutes were boarded twice while the four center lanes... More
