Family members are renting a house in this historic district. While visiting, we took their dogs for a walk to see the architecture and enjoy the fresh air. Many of the homes have plaques that provide a bit of history about original owners. The one being rented by our family has a plaque signifying the water line during Hurricane Ike.... More

While on our Carriage Ride the driver took us through the Historic District and provided us with information on the history of the town and the homes.

To be honest, I didn't do a lot of research prior to going to Galveston as I usually do. But I learned so much while I was there, including about the few big hurricanes that have battered the island over the century or so. The historical district is such a beautiful place...and unlike so many other places I've visited, they... More

Nice and pleasant stroll- the Tree sculptures are in the same area so we can catch 2 birds at the same time.

Many many old historical homes and probably the most Victorian homes I've seen outside of San Francisco. Many have been beautifully restored and yet many others are in various states of disrepair. They are painted in almost every color of the rainbow and provide an interesting blend of colors. There is obviously a concerted effort to preserve and restore as... More

Hubs n I love driving and walking the area to check out the painted ladies of Texas. There are more Victorian era homes in Galveston than anywhere else I've been in Texas. The houses are so interesting, flowering shrubs n trees are beautiful as well.

The East End Historic District is a fun place to see and hang out around. Lots of cute, colorful houses, restaurants and little pubs... Ate dinner at one of the Landry's restaurant... can't recall the name off the top of my head, but it was as good as any of the Landry's restaurants are...

Slow paced, relaxed, lovely plants in the divider of the streets. Beautiful old homes. Attractions, restaurants are all nearby.

Walk and looked at great architecture and historical homes. We were glad to see the survival of the revivalist! We ran into a home owner who gave us some insights on what to look for when looking at the homes. Great for a 2 hour walk
