There is two ways back we took the one you can drive on. The other follows a path thru trees. Nice gift store... More

Find all the information you can on all their birding centers and visit as many as you have time for. The Texas State Parks did a great job on their facilities.

We have been here several times this winter. There are many bird blinds which enable you to watch the birds (many different species) while not disturbing them. There are well marked paths and restroom facilities. It is a nature park, not a children's park unless they also can enjoy nature quietly. (how's that for subtle?). Also has areas where the... More

We went to the big Rio Grande Birding Festival in Nov. It is a BIG operation and some of the sessions are crowded..but the people were nice and helpful, and the birds were great.

We saw more species of birds in 20 minutes than at some other locations we had been. Nice park and close to town. The World Birding Center includes several other parks, such as Estero Llano Grande, Benson-Rio Grande and South Padre Island Nature and Birding Center. All of them are great for birders and nature lovers in general

The park known locally as Hugh Ramsey is a great place to visit for sighting birds and native vegetation. The trails border the Arroyo Colardo River as well.

We loved to visit this location. We are not birders, but just walking on the board walk and seeing the wildlife in and out of the water was refreshing.

While in Harlingen we went to a few of the birding centers. Found this very relaxing to walk around and got to see some nice birds from one of the viewing areas.

This birding center has is very wooded, and has lots of trails to explore. There is an amazing variety of birds to be seen especialky in the cooler hours of the morning. Ocelots, coyotes, Javelins (wild pigs) and water snakes are frequently seen here.b Don't let that out you off, if you don't bother the animals, they won't bother you... More

Check it out if you're in the area. They take pride in making it a good birding experience. It's a very pleasant place even if you're not a birder.
