- Mo M.12 contributionsVisit this charming MuseumMust see the butterfly habitat, planetarium and the dinosaur exhibit. The only thing was the snack/eatery closed mid-afternoon??? so no water/soda if your thirsty, maybe bring own next time. Crowded for a weekday visit. Parking was crowded so be aware. Nice parks around the museum grounds. Gift shop had a $10,000 dinosaur for sale if your interested?!otherwise knickknacks for sale.Visited June 2023Written 24 June 2023
- MEHEL3Fayetteville, North Carolina914 contributionsWe Loved ItOur visit was 9 June 2023. Three adults, one senior, teenager. We started on 4th floor and came downward to the bottom. The Museum is excellent and there is much to do and see. You can spend a whole day there and be oblivious of the time. We went on a Friday but maybe during the week might have been better. There were many people and of course school is out. Overall, we learned, enjoyed ourselves, and are glad we visited. There was a couple of other events there we did not get the attend and would probably come back for them. Parking was okay, but you just have to determine where to park. Nice and cool on inside, that was why everyone was probably there also. You could eat there but there are other close by options outside around area. Felt safe in the area. You really have to go to see this place.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 24 December 2023
- Julia IMadison, Wisconsin165 contributionsGreat hall of paleontologyThe hall of paleontology was superb! So many trilobites! And so much information. And great skeletons and dioramas. And the final section on evolution of hominids was also great. We spent nearly 2 hours in that one hall and then just had energy to walk briefly through the Texas hall of wildlife. My husband loves dinosaurs more than I do, but even I found it very interesting. And we were relieved it wasn’t too crowded on a Sunday afternoon in January. Parking is $30 and so it’s worth trying for free parking —the website has a good map and we got lucky to park in closest free lot A. Also saved by getting senior tickets (only available in person).Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 January 2024
- VP Travel Adventures65 contributionsSomething for everyone. I could spend days in here and never be bored. So much to see and do. I can't imagine trying to fit it all in during one visit but if you are up to the challenge, give it a try. This place is truly amazing. So many exhibits and a nice variety of subjects, dinosaurs, butterflies, Texas wildlife, gemstones from all over the world and so much more. We spent several hours in total amazement but still didn't see it all. The next time I'm in Houston, I will be visiting here again. It is well worth the money.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 13 March 2024

Very awesome. Best part was all the dinosaurs. So much history. Kids loved the planetarium and all the hands on exhibits. We bought the city pass to get in. We stayed near the children’s hospital and parking was plenty and easy in and out. If you don’t want to drive you can ride the light rail to the museum district, about a 10 min ride. Very easy.

It was fun, very educational and informative. Entire family had a great time, we had fun the some of the games they had for the kids and enjoyed the documentaries they were showing on the screen.

Worth a visit for a few hours - especially to see the dinosaurs and the rocks and gems. Pretty reasonable cost for food and drinks in the museum too!

This museum is just amazing, and I am usually not a big fan of science museums. Particularly the dinosaur/pre-historic exhibition blew me away, that is set up well with a certain sense of humor. The other exhibitions are interesting as well, so you will spend some time in this place. Schedule accordingly, preferably for Tuesday evenings when entry is free of charge.

I have mixed feelings about this experience. They have a bunch of items to look at. It was extremely busy and I felt very expensive. We had 3 children and 2 adults and it came to a little over $300.00 . We did buy the 2 additional packages - King Tut's tomb and The Shark Exhibit. King Tut's tomb was very good but I was really disappointed in the Shark Exhibit. I've been to several shark exhibits and they all had real, live, swimming sharks. This one did not. So this was a waste of money I felt. I enjoyed the dinosaurs and the gemstones.
We ate at the cafe which price wise was about normal and the food was very good but there was very limited seating and due to security measures you couldn't eat outside and come back in without walking all the way around to the front of the building to the main entrance. Not their fault but they needed to add more indoor seating. Parking was expensive. I don't think I would go back.

Part of the city pass. $30 to park! We didn’t even go into the museum because of the price of parking. What a rip off. Can’t review the museum, it may have been amazing, but we weren’t going to pay 30 to park the car.

Is it possible to store a suitcase at the museum for the duration of the visit?

Yes, there would be. I still do not recommend the current "King Tut" immersive exhibit though.

Are we able to take engagement photos in the museum and in the Arboretum without renting the space? Thank you.

As far as I know there are not any restrictions on taking pictures anywhere on the property. If you are bringing a professional photographer and staging some sort of photo shoot, you might want to call ahead and ask.

Hello fellow traveller,
You have posted this question in the wrong place, Houston Texas is very far from Niagara Falls.
You might try aTripAdvisor search for Niagara Falls-Hotels and see what comes up, there should be plenty of options.
Keep in mind that Niagara Falls hotels might be listed for both Canada and the USA. Make sure you get a hotel in the country you are visiting and if you plan to cross a border have the proper required ID and documents.
Have fun and take lots of pictures, Niagara Falls is lovely.

Does the $25 adult ticket admit you to all 16 exhibits, including the dinosaurs?
Why does their online ticket site have times on them? if I select a time does that mean I have to show up at that time slot? what happens if I miss that time slot?
Can I just walk up to buy tickets on the day I want to visit?

You have to pay extra for several of the exhibits - like the 3D movie, the butterfly exhibit and the Sherlock Holmes mystery room. I think certain shows are only on at certain times, so you’ll miss the show if you miss the time slot
We did that - bought tickets on the day, so I’m sure you can too. Maybe, you’ll need to buy them in advance for holidays etc thought, but I can’t be sure.
Members get way better offers, so if you’re a resident of Houston, I suggest you look up the memberships. Have a happy day :)
Does the butterfly center tikets include the museum?
Thomas J

No. The Butterfly exhibit is extra.
