Wow, what a special place! If you like intimate, relaxed, personal museum experiences, the Rienzi is for you. We arrived early and walked the grounds, those open in the winter. We were early for the tour so we were directed to an exhibit about the furnishings, upholstery, the history of the Dundas sofa, and the Adams-Chippendale connection. As it happened,... More

We have visited the Houston area fairly often in the past couple of years and have had the chance to see many of its highlights. We had never even heard of the Rienzi however until our latest trip. It is a jewel of a museum: beautiful artwork and furnishings, a very interesting history, beautiful gardens and a fabulous collection of... More

My company hosted a client event at the Rienzi. As apart of the MFAH, the docents are very knowledgeable about the family and the house. This was a great venue as it is one of the few hidden gems in Houston.

Located in River Oaks residential neighborhood. Mostly timed, guided tours. Extensive porcelain collection. Beautiful house and grounds.

Lovely treat -- most decorative or historical homes are older. This one is more modern, yet classic.

An unhurried guided tour around this beautiful mansion. It certainly has museum quality interiors, furniture and porcelain, it also has personal effects from the time of the original owners. The docent was knowledgable and personable. A lovely walk through the gardens rounded off a charming morning.

Make sure to book for the Rienzi Mansion in advance: groups are small and there are only a certain number of tours every day. The docent we got was a funny lady who could have been better informed about the art she was describing. Also know that it is far from being a 'mansion': big house with beautiful garden in... More

Stop at the visitor's center to watch the orientation video. Then walk through the gardens surrounding the house either before, or after, the house tour. Our house tour docent was very thorough and knowledgeable. The collection of art and furniture is very impressive.

I did enjoy my tour. I don't know a lot about Texas history since I'm originally from Louisiana so these tours allow me to study up. There are a few nice pieces of art in this particular tour.

This home belonged to the Mastersons and still has many of their personal effects, including family photos. The art ranges from okay to excellent, but there aren't a lot of major pieces. Can only be visited via a docent tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and her presentation was, for the most part, interesting.
