We are visiting from Australia and found this museum while searching for places to visit. A wonderful museum, beautifully set out and cared for. It was informative and staff were very helpful. To do it justice, allow time to really absorb the history.

I very much wanted to love this museum. I value so deeply the correction of American history which continues to under-represent the role of African Americans. There were some excellent bits in this museum, but overall it is in great need of a professional curator....More

Exhibit has artifacts across several historical periods. We enjoyed the informative film and we especially enjoyed the Harriet Tubman re-enactment. The whole experience was memorable for everyone in our group, especially the youth. Located in Houston's Museum District this is a site not to miss.
