The Arboretum does excellent public service and information about plants. The gardens are gorgeous and well-laid out. I try to get here at least once every time I am in Houston. There is always something new to enjoy. There are fountains, easy walking paths, and beautiful plants, laid out in a relaxed and informative way. The endangered plants section really... More

If your focus is on formal, beautifully tended gardens, you will likely be disappointed. The floods took out a giant chunk of the gardens and woods on the east side of Aldine Westfield. Major repairs are clearly impeding routine maintenance and everything looks rough. Even so the gardens have great bones and there is much to think about as one... More

Perhaps the floods a year ago changed this beautiful place but we were quite disappointed in the overall grounds. There is a wealth of information but it looked overgrown, except for the entrance. Sure hope that they can get it back to what we think it used to look like. Beautiful potential.

Mercer Arboretum's gardens focus on plants and trees that grow well in the Houston area. It's always been a great place to visit, especially in early spring when the most beautiful flowers, plants, shrubs and trees are in bloom. It is often the sight used for wedding photos. I recommend the Arboretum for all ages. You can spend as much... More

Evidently, some flooding in May 2016 wiped out a very good portion of the gardens and only a very little remains. All of the back areas by the little lake are closed. Banana trees, palms and tropical areas are also closed. Looks like it'll be a long road to recovery. It was a wonderful place, before.

Fun place to visit with kids in the spring when all the flowers are blooming. The park areas are great too with several playgrounds and picnic areas. Many trails to walk as well.
