Sam Houston's grave is easily accessed from the nearby curb, it is free and only takes a few minutes to view. Several historical markers provide some background and it is worth seeing and respecting.

Didn't get inside, not enough time, but the outside exhibits were fantastic!! Some of the audio boxes didn't work, but the signs said the same thing, with lots of info, never feeling short-changed that the audio DIDN'T work. The grounds are beautiful. Picnicking we did,...More

It's a small museum of surprising quality, with amazing artifacts (Santa Anna's saddle comes to mind) in monied displays.

Sam Houston loved Texas. But he loved his family more. This park tells the story of the Houston family (who've been family friends of mine for nearly 50 years). I asked my wife to marry me at the steps of the Steamboat House.
