Go with the expectation of being in a house of the Lord, not to visit as a tourist attraction. Not ornate as some churches, rather a continuous house of worship since 1755.

The San Agustin Catholic Cathedral is beautiful and cherished by locals, but welcomes visitors. It is the perfect setting for joyous celebrations such as weddings and baptisms and for somber observances such as memorials and funeral masses.

The cathedral is part of Laredo's historical buildings. Across the street from Republic of the Rio Grande Museum. Laredo was under seven flags.

Beautiful church in the downtown area. We walked around the outside and enjoyed seeing the cathedral. We wanted to go in but respected the wedding/event that was going on at the time. It photographed beautiful on the outside.

Despite what Trip Advisor says, the church is closed to visits. It only opens 30 min before mass. We inquired at the office and the lady confirmed it is not open to public at the hours indicated on Trip Advisor.
