Fun place for Elementary aged kids if you are in the area!

I wouldn't make a special trip just for this. But my 8 and 9 year olds loved the story and history of this cool hole!

This is an interesting spot to see at least once. It has an historical significance from the early days of Burnet County that can be instructive. Take CR401 to the east from US281 (south of Marble Falls) or north from TX71 just east of the junction with US281. You will have to watch carefully for the marker on the east... More

Stopped here on our way out of Marble Falls. Interesting story but not much to look at. The marker is on a paved road. Watch for the sign or you will pass it.

So, my teenager talked us into visiting. It's a little ways from the main road and just past new construction homes. It wasn't too much to see. My son conducted an EVP (probably watches too much Ghost Adventures) he received no sounds however... he did state he felt someone grab his arm. It was a creepy site. I've heard from... More

Very interesting, and a liitle creepy (because of the Dead Bodies) but worth finding. About half way down 401 off of 2147. It's okay if you miss it as there is another very interesting Historical Marker at Hwy 71 were 401 ends. Be sure to check out the NE corner. Then head back to Dead Mans Hole

This is an interesting spot from a geological standpoint as well as its infamous historical significance. There is a nice historical marker on site and a nice parking area but I think it could be developed a little further to provide more information for visitors, perhaps some storyboards around the parking lot to explain more about the history of this... The hole is a lesson in Geology, as its a solution cavity that never completely filled in. These holes filled in are considered breccia zones within the lime stone unground rock formations. The history behind this hole is amazing, as the bones of 17 different people were found on a ledge around 100' down the hole. They say the sprits... More

Nice little scenic stop. If you are looking for historical marker stops this is an interesting one. Not very flashy but a good stop for a rest off the highway.
