DO NOT SKIP THE CHINATI FOUNDATION WHEN YOU GO TO MARFA. Okay, so I didn't go to the Chinati Foundation on my first two visits to Marfa. But I did go on my third. And it's so worth it. Their website is a little confusing...More

This is by far the strangest museum I have ever been to. My husband wouldn't even pay the price to go in just looked at the art on the outside. I just don't see this as art myself

I get that art means different things to different people and these “things” motivated me enough to write about them, albeit critically, so maybe ...? But then I think of all the tourists that come here only cos it is featured snobbishly in their tourguides....More

This is not a handicap friendly place. Lots of walking on gravel. No ramps or carts to take you long distances.

To visit the foundation one needs to book a tour. We did the 4 1/2 hour one and if one likes land art or minimal art it is a must visit. Everyone was super friendly and we enjoyed our visit very much

Loved the Donald Judd's aluminum installation and Robert Irwin's Dawn to Dusk. The Russian School is also a treat. Just loved the setting, high desert, amazing light and great use of an old military base. Highly recommend.

Great story of how it came about....Big time NYC artist finds that property he needs way out here in west Texas. A whole artist community exists side by side with the ranch world. Terrific art. Terrific architecture. Terrific views. The art Might be a function...More
