Have only gone there once. Seating was very uncomfortable. You could "rent" a cushion - they obviously know it is uncomfortable. Should have installed better seating rather than keeping the "vintage" courthouse seats. Acoustics was horrible. Why would you have a preforming arts center with such bad acoustics? Makes you wonder. Will NEVER consider returning there, not matter who is... More

I brought my children to see MPAC's production of "Peter Pan". I wasn't sure what to expect, as we've never been to the courthouse theater; however, we were not disappointed! We arrived juat after 7pm for a 7:30 show. We waited in a short line until 7:15, when we were allowed in to choose our seats (general admission). We were... More

The city of McKinney has done a marvelous job of keeping the historic structure but creatively re-thinking how to use this marvelous building. It is a great gift to the citizens and used many ways during the holidays!

During the “Home for the Holidays” event in downtown McKinney, we went to the courthouse to watch the play, “A Christmas Carol”! Om: We’ve seen a number of plays at the courthouse – sure it’s a historical site, but for seeing plays and such? It’s really neat! They added cushions to all the seats recently, making it more comfortable than... More

They have done a great job of repurposing this old courthouse. It sits in the middle of the downtown square surrounded by things to do and places to eat or get a drink. We were in the Courtroom Theatre to see Aaron Neville. It is a small venue so every seat is a good seat. As it is the courtroom... More

The courthouse anchors the square where we visited for the shopping and restaurants. There is some interesting history there that was uncovered during renovations. They also have public restrooms available.

What a great building! As far as historic Texas Courthouses go, this one is unique in its Art Deco styling and beautiful restoration/maintenance. It really seems like the heart of the town, just like it was meant to be when it was built. It's a beautiful structure and I love that it was repurposed so perfectly to maintain its importance... The old courthouse on the square in downtown McKinney is now part of a museum and also an entertainment venue. Movies, dances, plays, weddings, and so much more take place in this wonderful building.

Building is in the center of the McKinney town square and always has something going on. Old courtroom has a theatre and you can catch a play, movies are shown periodically and they also have shows and concerts.
