Had a wonderful experience hiking the trails of the Heard Wildlife Center. Great place to take kids and explore. We saw a doe and her fawn, just yards from us.

Funny entrance due to new developments that have acquired and built along the primary road on the way to Heard's entrance. There are almost 300 acres at the sanctuary. Very informative lady at the desk upon entry. We reviewed the map and offerings and since...More

My wife, adult son, and I spent two to three hours walking around this wildlife sanctuary and observed snakes, lots of birds, frogs, turtles, etc. We especially enjoyed the trails around the lake.

We enjoyed a 2.5 mile walk/hike, where we saw water snakes and many types of turtles in the marsh (that we walked well above). The indoor exhibits were interesting, from the pre historic fossilized animals, to the live species of turtles, snakes, etc. Fun place...More

My family saw various species of animals native to this part of Texas. On the nature walk we got to observe many beautiful birds, opossum, a coyote, and a fox. The gift shop had many native rocks and artifacts.

This is a great place to take visitors or kids. In the fall they have a dinosaur event and really go all out.

Hi! It's too bad the dinosaurs won't be there after Feb. 15, then I would have recommended the trail where the dinosaurs are places for sure, without them, it's a nice place to hike, not hilly, and there is a spot with... More
