When we approached the cathedral, we noticed that the tower was under construction. They were repairing the room where the bells were located. They had moved sculptures and paintings inside the cathedral. At time, these statues were crowded in one little place. Quite different compared to the normal. There are some beautiful paintings and statues in here. Wow! The stained-glass... More

This medieval cathedral can seat 1500 people. It was built when St. Omer was a thriving town of more than 30,000 people and is truly a work of art. There is an astronomical clock above the south door which was the preferred entrance of King Louis XIV who used to visit this cathedral quite often. The organ is magnificent and... More

A truly beautiful and stunning cathedral. Well worth a visit . Easy wheelchair access. Stained glass windows are stunning. Could sit there for hours just drinking in the peace and quiet. Very spiritual place full of history.

Have visited the cathedral purely to admire the architecture, really atmospheric and amazing. We were lucky to be in St Omer for Xmas, so was an ideal time to visit for the Xmas Mass, was the only time I have ever done this, but was a superb experience.

In the middle of the old town, close to restaurants and hotels. Some interesting features: a P.P. Rubens and the clock. The tower, the landmark of the city is under renovation in 5 stages till 2022. The bells have been removed already and are on display in the church.

An English style cathedral, that boasts Saint Omer, Saint Erkembode and Saint Eustace and a Cavaillé-Coll organ that has to be heard to appreciate the full beauty. A Rubens, and wood carvings by local boy Charles Chifflart not to mention a rare astrological clock dating from 1558....Worth more than one visit to take in all the history and treasures...I recommend... We arrived not long before closing time so everything was quite dark but it was still possible to appreciate the art work and windows.
