We have been coming to this children's museum for 10 years and I am sad to see how much it has deteriorated. Not even basic maintenance is done- today when we were here, I had to point out to the staff that numerous light bulbs were burned out, making the child play areas dark and unsafe. I mean, how hard... More

This museum is partly housed in a new building and partly housed in the Turner Mansion. I was disappointed we could not go upstairs in the mansion because it is used for offices. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to visit. But the museum is reasonably priced and the day we went they had a James Gill American Pop... More

While spending the weekend in Odessa Texas we stopped by the Museum of the Southwest in Midland TX. The day we went was International Astronomy Day so admission was free. This was initially the mansion of the Turner family from Midland, Oil and Horse breeding royalty. The museum is full of an excellent selection of high quality art and historical... More

This is a museum of many different items. It changes all the time. They have wonderful art and Christmas display during the holidays. If you have not been to the Museum of the Southwest, you need t go.

Christmas decorations are always nice and fun to see. Fun kids area where they can learn and play. Farmers markets in the summer and outdoor concerts on the weekends.

The Museum of the Southwest is really a gem. Its 2016 renovation puts it on par with Dallas or Houston art museums, and they are rotating the permanent collection, which has some impressive Southwest and classic art. The best thing is - there is a Children's Museum (behind the Turner Mansion) that is free on Sunday afternoons, and there's a... More

A charming museum featuring local artists as well as sound classical and contemporary Western art, the Museum of the Southwest is a Charming place for both adults and children with a special museum for children. On the grounds is the Blakemore planetarium as well. A finf for family or people alone. Monthly meetings of interest and shows that change every... More

Christmas at the Mansion is being held at Museum of the Southwest this holiday season. The museum is beautifully decorated with many Christmas trees and exhibiting 30 years of Santa paintings by Bill Keen. Food and drinks were being served, wonderful night catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

We recently visited the museum of the Southwest in Midland. The paintings on display are great and enjoyed seeing the Kentucky Derby items. The observatory had several broken displays and needs attention. We were disappointed overall.
