For more than 20 years, I'd passed by this area with no idea it was a nature refuge. I moved off to central Texas where birding and an appreciation for nature blossomed. In discovering many wonderful places during that time it was when I moved back to the Pasadena-Clear Lake area that the Armand Bayou NC caught my eye. Historic... More

Now this rating is relative to all of the natural areas, nature centers, arboretums and forests I have been to within 1 hour of Houston, TX. It is based on wildlife sightings, size, scenery, etc. ---- This is a fee-based site. They are closed on Mondays. The historical buildings are also only open on weekends. Size-wise it is decent enough.... More

Should you need to get away from the hectic life of daily living this is the place to go. Come to the Bayou to let it all go. In your mind that is! Walk down one of the many walkways. Stop for a few minutes and just listen. Listen to the birds singing, flaps of fish swimming in the water... More

I've lived in the Houston area for 14 years and had never heard of this center. I had a guest visiting and they read about it. We really enjoyed the trails. Be sure to bring your own water as they don't sell any. Wear hiking shoes or tennis shoes. Bring binoculars if you can. Wish more trees and plants would... More

Armand bayou is great space to take the kids out or yourself for a walk to get some fresh air and exercise. There is an amazing array of wildlife and vegetation in the middle of the city. We live nearby and like to visit to get the kids out and active. They love to pick a different trail to explore.... More

I brought my kids here for a nature walk, and we had a great time. We didn't walk as far as planned, but that's because the kids kept stopping to pick stuff up and touch everything. They loved learning about nature, and the gardens were very pretty. One of my children loves plants and was fascinated learning about them all.... More

A wonderful natural place with deer, snakes and gators. Peaceful walking trails filled with the wonders of nature as it once was in this land. We have been members since 2001. The board walk and exhibit buildings are wheelchair accessible but the trails are not.

This is a lovely park near the Armand Bayou nature center. The nature center park closed before 6 and so i got to find this park which was just a mile away and was a hidden treasure.

It's beautiful here. Kids love the hiking and animals. We always see snakes by the water, frogs, turtles and gators in the bayou. The farmhouse is so quaint and usually something for the kids to learn about and do a craft.

They have two dog walking parks, one for small and one for large. Very large areas for both dogs. Lots of obstacles for them to play around and on. There are a few trails to walk out over the water that are very enjoyable, other than that mainly walking on the road.
