Nice Little Nature Center

Worth a stop. They had a very nice nature center you can visit. I also enjoyed walking around and seeing the outdoor wetland exhibit. We saw a lot of shore birds!

We took our children age 11 to 6. We spent about 2 hours visiting the indoor exhibits as well as the outdoor walking exhibit. The staff was nice and friendly. While walking on the trail near the animal hospital my wife happened to notice they were moving turtles from the building to some large tanks. At that time my son... More

We learned a lot and enjoyed our tour. It was very hot in august and little shade or breeze. Some walking required as well, the volunteer tour guides were great

The indoor exhibits were quite informative. It was good to see the 'next generation' (UT students) committed to active involvement in preserving our ecosystem. Outside, the walk through the wetlands gave visible emphasis of those facts. Seeing the rehab habitats were rewarding also.

Everyone should visit at least once - and then come back again . I'm always amazed at how much there is to know about the island . A favorite exhibit of mine was the listing of what countries ships pass through the channel.

Wonderful exhibits and wildlife displays. Well worth the effort and they improve each time we go. Don't miss the bird rehab out back. Pelicans are astounding

We enjoyed the hour-long (free) walking tour of the wetlands nature preserve behind the UTMSI. the Institute itself also has many interesting and informative displays including fish aquariums. There's also a nice gift shop.

This semi small visit is a wonderful stop for education and fun for families or individuals. You can see some unique wildlife, see the some bones and other objects of very unique creatures and far away places. You can get questions answered. More importantly you can find out what exactly makes places like Port Aransas, and our oceans such a... More

The Marine Science Institute is located near the entrance to IB Magee Beach Park. From the Ferry, just drive straight and follow Cotter all the way to the end of the island. There a few great exhibits inside including several aquariums with a wide variety of native fish, sea horses, urchins, and more. There is a large jawbone from a... More

If you have the time, take a break from the beach and learn more about the Texas Gulf Coast at this wonderful educational resource in Port Aransas. You will understand and appreciate the Gulf Coast more than ever once you visit.
