The lakes are an excellent place to kayak and fish! Very tranquil and peaceful place. Fishing was good too! Didn't catch the big redfish I was looking for, but did catch some decent sea trout.

My wife and I tried the Lighthouse Lakes Kayak Trail on a tandem ocean kayak. We started near marker 60 by the ferry. This is a well marked trail. Maps with GPS coordinates are available in parks, on line, and at Port Aransas kayak stores....More

Loads of schooling redfish in the inlets to the backbays. Be aware of tides, some of the trail is not readily passable at low tide

Wife and I kayaked here in the winter. It is shallow but no problem for kayak. There were lots of birds in the mangorves. The lighthouse in the name is private, can be seen but not visited as far as I know.

It was a very windy day so it was hard to paddle. Also there seemed to be some strong currents in the channel we traversed to get to the lighthouse trail. Mostly the water was pretty shallow, lots of oyster beds, not many birds to...More

Seen a lot of birds there. Went to try and catch some fish. The areas I walked into were kind of crappy, The table areas could use some clean up. Got hung up on a crab basket, never caught any fish, but did have a...More
